    An official handover ceremony of a newly-renovated training center was held April 10 at KAZCENT -Partnership for Peace Training Center. U.S. Consul General Theresa Grencik, KAZCENT Commander Colonel Oleg Essenov and Major Justin Colbert, Chief of the Office of Military Cooperation, participated in the ceremony, along with KAZCENT personnel..

    “Native Lands” Photo Exhibition Opens in Almaty

    On April 2 the U.S. Consulate General in Almaty, in partnership with A. Kasteyev State Museum of Arts and Chevron Corporation presented a “Native Lands” photo exhibition, depicting nomadic indigenous peoples and their traditions in Central Asia and North America. Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Nisha Desai Biswal delivered the remarks at the opening ceremony..

    CG attends the 25th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet forces from Afghanistan

    February 15, 2014 marked the 25th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet forces from Afghanistan. During a ceremony in Almaty, local authorities, Afghan war veterans, youth organizations, diplomats and Almaty residents honored those who served. U.S. Consul General T.Grencik represented the United States, laying flowers at the Eternal Flame monument in Panfilov Park..

    U.S. Mission to Kazakhstan, Almaty City Akimat and «Posadiderevo.Kz» Team Launch Anti-Littering Campaign in Almaty

    The U.S. Mission to Kazakhstan, Almaty city Akimat and local environmental nongovernmental organization launched an anti-littering civic education and youth awareness campaign with the premiere of a public service announcement (PSA) in Almaty on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at 5 PM at the Bekmambetov Cinema. The PSA will be screened on Khabar and Kazakhstan TV channels..

    U.S. Consulate General Opens a New American Corner in Almaty

    On January 22 the U.S. Consulate General launched a new American Corner in Almaty in partnership with the State Children’s Library named after S.Begalin. The American Corner in Almaty just relocated to the State Children’s Library after a full renovation and redesign. Featuring modern facilities, new technical equipment and even more information resources, the new American Corner in Almaty is free and open to the public..

    U.S. Consulate General Almaty Promotes Travel & Education with Its “American Dream Expo”

    USCG Almaty, EducationUSA and the U.S. Foreign Commercial Service held the first-ever “American Dream Expo” education and travel fair on Saturday, October 19 in Almaty. The event promoted U.S. travel, tourism and education opportunities for citizens of Kazakhstan. Forty American universities were represented and most major airlines and travel agencies, American brands, food, dance and music..
