    U.S. Consul General Theresa Grencik Opens Seismology Workshop in Almaty

    On October 27, the U.S. Consul General Theresa Grencik opened the “Workshop for Regional Cooperation in Seismology and Earthquake Engineering in South and Central Asia” in Almaty. The week-long conference is coordinated by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), Institute of Seismology in Kazakhstan, the Helmholtz-Centre Potsdam - GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences, the United Nations..

    Opening of the international peacekeeping exercise “Steppe Eagle- 2014”

    The “Steppe Eagle 2014” international peacekeeping exercise was launched at Kazakhstan’s peacekeeping brigade KAZBRIG on September 24. Kazakhstani peacekeeping personnel are heading off to Germany, where they will participate in exercises with counterparts from the United States, the UK, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan. U.S. Ambassador John Ordway delivered opening remarks..
